A useful place to start
Use an AI sounding board to make a decision clearer

Sam is AutoMessage’s sounding-board assistant. He helps you put an idea into words, compare options, and identify the next question. You keep the decision and can challenge his suggestions.
State the decision in one sentence
‘Should I join a class or practice alone?’ is a decision. ‘I want to improve myself’ is a much broader topic. Give Sam the options, the time available, and what matters most to you.
Ask him to summarize your goal before recommending anything. If the summary misses the point, correct it. A useful conversation should make your own criteria clearer rather than replace them with a generic list.
Compare the tradeoff you would actually accept
Ask what each option gives you and what it requires. A class might provide structure while requiring a fixed time. Practicing alone might be flexible while requiring you to decide what to do. These are tradeoffs to discuss, not a universal ranking.
If Sam recommends an option, ask what assumption the recommendation depends on. You may learn that the answer changes if your schedule, budget, or motivation differs from the initial description.
Find a small test before a large commitment
You might attend one introductory session or try a short practice schedule. Ask Sam what you could learn from that test and how you would know whether the option fits.
Sam does not run experiments, operate your accounts, or make commitments for you. His role is to help you think through the decision. For legal, medical, or financial questions, use the appropriate professional support.
How can I decide between a class and practicing on my own?
Tell Sam what you want to learn, your available time and the two options. Ask: “Summarize my criteria first. Compare a weekly class with practicing alone, and tell me which assumption would change your recommendation.” Correct the summary if it leaves out something important.
Choose a small next step, such as attending an introductory session or trying one week of practice. Ask what you would need to learn from that test before committing. Sam can help structure the decision; you carry out the test and decide whether the option fits.
